The Rubberatkins Wind Turbine Passes 10 Gigawatt Hours Of Clean Electricity Generation

Rubberatkins on-site wind turbine at our Aberdeen Manufacturing Plant has now generated 10 gigawatt hours of electricity generated since it’s installation. The weather may not have been the best over the winter months, but it certainly generated a record level of sustainable electricity.

Commissioned in 2012, the turbine has consistently delivered clean, renewable energy generating approximately 700,000 kWh annually, it plays a significant role in reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering operational carbon emissions.

Each year, the turbine reduces carbon footprint by an estimated 265 to 380 tonnes, directly supporting our environmental and sustainability goals. Over its lifetime, this contribution has resulted in substantial cumulative carbon savings while providing a reliable source of green energy.

‘While stormy Scottish conditions can bring challenges, they also serve as a powerful reminder of nature’s potential to drive renewable energy generation. Further to the success of the Turbine, we installed 128kW capacity solar panels on the factory which despite being 57 degrees north of the equator have already contribute 180MWhrs over the 20 months since installation’. Chairman and Co-Founder of Rubberatkins, Nick Atkins.
